None of this year s Carnival-related competitions will be counted as part of the official records, according to chairman of the National Carnival Commission (NCC) Winston Peters, though he said promoters were free to host any of them.
“There is no Carnival 2021 so the NCC won’t recognise any winner for any event,” he said last Saturday when asked about The Monarch (the new name of the International Soca Monarch contest).
The Monarch is one of three Carnival events that will now be held virtually.
On Tuesday, the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO) announced that there will be a virtual road march with a $100,000 bounty for whoever captures the title.

COVID19 may have prevented 2020 Panorama champions Desperadoes Steel Orchestra from celebrating its win earlier in the year, so the orchestra is hosting a virtual show to make up for it.
The concert, The Championship Christmas Celebration, will take place on December 25 at 8 pm.
Financial officer and member of production team for the concert Kwesi Moore told Newsday the show will be carried live on TTT online and the TTT YouTube channel, as well as on the Desperadoes Facebook page and YouTube channel.

The ministry added that Government had approved and allocated a maximum of $25 million in cultural relief grants for disbursement.
Tourism Minister Randall Mitchell said, “We understood the impact of the pandemic on those individuals involved in culture and the arts, and we felt it was important to be compassionate during this difficult period.”
