A total 127 doctors rendering consultancy service at National Kidney Transplant Institute owe the state-run specialty hospital various amounts in rental payments for clinic spaces they are occupying.
The Commission on Audit said nearly P20 million in rental cost and electricity and water bills have remained unpaid by doctors, vendo and stall owners at NKTI as of December 31, 2020. Some of the arrears have aged for over five years now.
In the 2020 Annual Audit Report for NKTI, COA revealed that aside from rental fees, the doctors and vendo owners have also incurred arrearages in the payment of electricity and water bills.

BUDGETARY SUPPORT provided to government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCCs) declined 68% year on year to P3.838 billion in March, the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) said.
In its cash operations report, the BTr said the year-earlier total was P11.952 billion.
Around 65% of the March 2021 subsidies went to the National Irrigation Administration, down 15% year on year.
The Bases Conversion and Development Authority received P841 million, as opposed to zero a year earlier.
Other GOCCs that received the most subsidies were the Small Business Corp. (P500 million), Philippine Health Center (P444 million); National Kidney Transplant Institute (P320 million), Philippine National Railway (P312 million) and Philippine Children’s Medical Center (P309 million).

In a statement, the OVP said the online concert dubbed “Harana: Musical Tribute to Filipino Frontliners” will be held on May 1, Labor Day, at 7 p.m.
The OVP said that the online concert aims to offer a breather for medical frontliners leading the fight against COVID-19.
The online concert is under the OVP’s Istorya ng Pag-asa program and will feature artists who volunteered to participate in the musical in support of frontliners.
Artists slated to perform in the concert include The Company, Noel Cabangon, Cooky Chua, Nonoy Zuñiga, Agot Isidro, Buboy Garrovillo, Jim Paredes, Joana Ampil, Renato Lucas, Skarlet Brown, Ivy Violan, Joey Ayala, Noli Aurillo, Bayang Barrios, Amp Big Band, Nona Galan, and Arman Ferrer.

MANILA (Reuters) – The Philippines announced on Monday that its COVID-19 cases had exceeded one million, as the country sought to boost healthcare capacity to ease strains on hospitals and medical staff stretched by a second wave of infections.
The Philippines imposed a two-week lockdown of Manila and surrounding provinces late last month to try to stem a surge in cases blamed on more contagious COVID-19 variants.
