Suzanne Sanregret named AD of the Year by NACDA

ABC 10/CW5 Courtesy of MTU Courtesy OF Michigan Tech Huskies CLEVELAND – Michigan Tech’s Suzanne Sanregret has been named an NCAA Division II Athletics Director of the Year for 2020-21, announced Wednesday (Mar. 10) by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). Sanregret has held the position at her alma mater since 2005 and is one of four recipients of the award in NCAA Division II along with Tiffin’s Lonny Allen, Slippery Rock’s Paul Lueken, and Pennie Parker from Rollins College. Sanregret is the first female athletic director at Michigan Tech and within the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the first woman to serve on the NCAA DII Men’s Basketball Regional Ranking Committee.

WVU’s Shane Lyons is one of four winners of the 2021 Athletics Director of the Year Award from the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). University High School graduate and Oregon AD Rob Mullins is also a winner of this award. In addition to his duties as WVU’s top athletics official, Lyons has also served as chairman of the NCAA Football Oversight Committee. A native of Parkersburg, Lyons is in his seventh year at the WVU post. “There’s a lot of fingerprints that go on to this award,” Lyons said. “Being an athletic director, you take the good and the bad. And this is the good. I have a lot of great people I have surrounded myself with, from my senior staff and entire staff at the West Virginia athletics department that have helped make this a reality. I can’t thank them enough.”

CVCC s Schroeder Named Community College Athletic Director of the Year

Catawba Valley Community College’s Nick Schroeder has been named a 2020-21 Junior/Community College Athletics Director of the Year (ADOY) award recipient by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). Schroeder is just the third athletic director in Region 10 to receive the honor – a list that also includes Dr. Christopher Parker, who is now the CEO of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Only 71 junior college athletic directors have won the honor all time. “This is truly a great honor to be recognized by my fellow athletic directors for what we have created in the CVCC Red Hawks athletics program,” Schroeder said. “While it is my name listed on this honor, I can truly say this award represents everyone at CVCC from our President Dr. Garrett Hinshaw to our amazing coaches to all of the supportive and giving faculty and staff and most importantly all of our current and past student-athletes.
