Establishment of three Universities: Bills pass second reading in Delta Assembly

BILLS for the upgrade of three higher institutions in Delta State to university status have passed second readings on the floor of the State House of Assembly.
The motions for the second reading of the three education bills were moved by the Deputy Majority Leader, Mr Kenneth Oboro Preyor who also led debates on their merits at the plenary presided over by the Speaker, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori.
The three bills were forwarded to the State House of Assembly on 27th January 2021 by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who solicited the cooperation of members of the House for immediate legislative actions on the bills.

18 inmates graduate from NOUN

Eighteen inmates of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) studying with the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Corrections’ Special Study Centres have graduated in various disciplines.
In a congratulatory message to the graduands, the Acting Controller General of Corrections, John Mrabure, charged them to see the educational advancement as a stepping stone to a brighter future.
Public Relations Officer of the Service, CC Francis Enobore, in a statement said the CG urged them to shun anti-social behaviours capable of tainting the new course of positive life they have chosen for themselves and be good ambassadors of both the Correctional Service and NOUN.

January marked the start of a new training journey for 50 students in the Growing Future Farmers (GFF) programme, one that could set them up with a career for life.
Students from around the country kickstarted their GFF studies with four days of basic training and induction activities, a mix of practical and theory work aimed at helping them transition smoothly into two years of on-the-job training.
The Taihape and Hawke s Bay participants rounded off the cohort s big start with an induction at Cabbage Tree Flat Station on January 23, which saw 12 local students come together for vehicle training, health and safety, hauora (wellbeing) workshops and recreational activities at the Waimārama farm.
