COVIDWeekly: Online vaccination booking test run declared a success

Barbados Today May 6, 2021 Last weekend’s pilot scheme where Barbadians over the age of 50 were able to book appointments for their COVID-19 vaccines online via an appointment portal has been declared a success.   Co-Coordinator of the National Vaccination Campaign, Dr Elizabeth Ferdinand, told COVID Weekly, “We had allocated 300 vaccines for two sites on Saturday, April 24, and 500 for one site on Sunday, April 25, and the portal allocated these appointments in one day. So we had to close the pilot, which was supposed to run for three days (Wednesday, April 21 to Friday, April 23), after just one day.” The pilot appointment system was set up for the administration of the first doses of the Oxford- AstraZeneca vaccine. 

COVID-19: Travel eased for vaccinated people in UAE

Dubai: The National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) announced updated national travel protocol, easing travel for vaccinated people. The authority eased quarantine procedures for vaccinated people, according to the respective destinations in line with preventive and precautionary measures that ensure the safety of all community members. “We urge everyone to get vaccinated with the continuous spread of COVID-19 variants across the world,” Saif Al Dhaheri, official spokesperson of the authority, said during the media briefing on Tuesday. He also advised people to continue to strictly adhere to measures issued by competent authorities, like social distancing and wearing masks, even after taking the two shots of the vaccine.

Share Covid-19 commission told to accelerate vaccination drive Tue, 27 April 2021 Prime Minister Hun Sen has directed the national ad-hoc commission for Covid-19 vaccination programme to use all means necessary to accelerate the drive and inoculate all residents aged 18 and over in Phnom Pehn and adjacent Takmao town in Kandal province amid the lockdown. In a recent directive that extended the lockdown in Phnom Penh and Takmao to May 5, he told the vaccination commission to revise its strategy and plan to transform it into a “National Vaccination Campaign”. “Use all means available to accelerate the vaccination of all people in the shortest period possible for people aged 18 and over in Phnom Penh and the densely populated area of Kandal province,” he said.
