The American Diabetes Association (ADA) has recently awarded Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) Diabetes and Endocrinology of Torrington a prestigious recognition certificate for their diabetes self-management education and support education program. The designation means ADA believes the service offers high-quality education that is an essential component of effective diabetes treatment.
To qualify, the Torrington program had to meet the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support that were developed and tested under the auspices of the National Diabetes Advisory Board most recently revised in 2017. Services that achieve recognition status have a staff of knowledgeable health professionals who can provide participants with comprehensive information about diabetes management. Education Recognition status is verified by an official certificate from ADA and awarded for four years.
