In a brief handover ceremony held at the university’s headquarters in Abuja, Peters, who was elected the Vice-Chancellor on December 3, 2020, described his predecessor as a man whose tenure would always be reckoned with in the annals of the university. In a brief acceptance speech, Peters, a Professor of Chemistry, said, “Professor Adamu’s tenure will be enduring and we shall have cause to make reference now and then to the tenure of Abdalla Uba Adamu.

NOUN academic staff resolve to join ASUU over earned academic allowance

TODAY February 9, 2021 The Academic staff of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), under the aegis of NOUN Academic Staff Forum, has resolved to join the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). In a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Dr. Chuks Enwerem, the NOUN academic staff forum in its first meeting, discussed modalities for getting their entitlement from the Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) released by the federal government to ASUU. The resolution was made 2, February, 2021, at the second meeting of the body, which was held at the convocation arena of its headquarters in Abuja. The statement noted that the second meeting, which was chaired by the chairman of the forum, Prof. Abubakar Suleiman, briefed members on the progress made towards getting staff of the university to be included in the payment loop.

In a congratulatory message to the graduands, the Acting Controller General of Corrections, John Mrabure, charged them to see the educational advancement as a stepping stone to a brighter future. Public Relations Officer of the Service, CC Francis Enobore, in a statement said the CG urged them to shun anti-social behaviours capable of tainting the new course of positive life they have chosen for themselves and be good ambassadors of both the Correctional Service and NOUN.
