In the wake of COVID-19, creating economic growth, good paying jobs and vitality in our community has become more important than ever. Since 2010, the bipartisan-supported Minnesota Historic Structure Rehabilitation Tax Credit has served the state in countless ways. The tax credit has generated over $3.5 billion for Minnesota’s economy, created over 18,650 jobs and generates economic growth in 97% of our state’s industries. Elaborate architecture, white glove service, historic moments, unrivaled attention to detail â these are the classic luxuries of a bygone era that travelers eagerly seek out in Europe. The Burleigh County Commission on Monday voted to end a fledgling partnership with Friends of the Rail Bridge after learning it could not help provide the nonprofit with additional insurance, leaving the future of the historic Bismarck-Mandan Rail Bridge unclear.
State s Attorney Julie Lawyer informed the commissioners that a memo from Friends of the Rail Bridge said information provided by the group at the March 15 commission meeting was misleading or in error.
Friends of the Rail Bridge wants to stop BNSF Railway from demolishing the 138-year-old bridge spanning the Missouri River to make way for a new structure. The preservation group and railroad signed an agreement with the U.S. Coast Guard in January outlining paths to either keeping or removing the bridge. The Coast Guard decides on projects proposed along that part of the Missouri River to âensure the structure does not unreasonably affect navigation,â according to a Federal Register notice.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The Getty Foundation and Los Angeles planning officials are teaming up for an ambitious project to identify, protect and celebrate African American heritage within the city, it was announced today.
Over the next three years, the Los Angeles African American Historic Places Project will identify and help preserve the places that best represent the depth and breadth of African American history here, and work with communities to develop creative approaches that meet their own aims for placemaking, identity, and empowerment, museum officials said.
In citing the need for such a project, they noted that only about 3% of L.A. s 1,200 designated local landmarks are linked to African American heritage.
