It’s been a whirlwind year for Ghana and the whole world at large following the outbreak of the deadly Novel Coronavirus pandemic. Aside death and complicated health issues, the pandemic has had an immense effect on livelihood, businesses and economies. Some countries have had to experience a derail in their economies while businesses, both private and government, have had to either close down, lay off workers or keep heads above waters to run smoothly. In spite of the unforeseen adversity, there have been some positives in the business world. Ranging from new startups to financial assistance, etc.

Fifty Young Entrepreneurs and Startups from across the country have been honored at the 2020 edition of the annual Young Entrepreneur Awards; a prestigious scheme to recognize and celebrate exceptional job creators below age 40, in Ghana.
The Young Entrepreneur Awards is organized by the Youth Business Network Foundation in collaboration with Ghana Startup Network, Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs, with support from Ministry of Business Development and National Entrepreneurship and Innovations Program (NEIP), the YE! Community, among other stakeholders.
This year’s edition, themed; “Celebrating job creators in the midst of the pandemic”, saw key industry players and institutions duly represented – Ministry of Business Development, National Entrepreneurship and Innovations Program (NEIP), National Board for Small Scale

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the country have been asked to team-up to undertake big ticket transactions that can profit Africa’s over 1.2 billion consumers.
That will help position the country’s Small and Medium Enterprises to take advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) which become operational in January 2020.
The event
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Mr Seth Twum-Akwaboah, made the call at the opening of a three-day trade fair at the forecourt of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).
Dubbed “Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Street Fair,” the event served as a one-stop shop for Christmas shoppers with about 100 exhibitors.
