MOSCOW, December 22. /TASS/. A Russian Su-30 jet fighter escorted a Japan Air Self-Defense Force OP-3C patrol plane over the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk, the National Defense Control Center told journalists Tuesday.
According to the military, Russian airspace control means detected an airborne target approaching the Russian border over the neutral waters of the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan.
The plane escorted a U.S. RC-135 reconnaissance plane as it approached the Russian border.
The Russian Air Force has continued to remain on alert and ready to respond to alleged incursions near the nation’s borders. On Friday, a MiG-31 fighter scrambled to intercept a U.S. Air Force RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft approached the Russian borders over the neutral waters of the Bering Sea.
The fighter aircraft from the Pacific Fleet’s air defense quick reaction alert forces responded and prevented the “violation of the state border,” the Defense Ministry’s National Defense Control Center reported, according to Tass.

Russian radars detected an air target over the neutral waters of the Bering Sea approaching the Russian state border on December 11. A MiG-31 fighter from the Pacific Fleet’s air defense quick reaction alert forces was scrambled to prevent the violation of the state border, the National Defense Control Center said.
