NIH scientist wins international research honor
The scientific director at the Division of Intramural Research in the National Human Genome Research Institute within the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda has received a prize from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Crafoord Foundation.
Daniel L. Kastner won the Crafoord Prize in Polyarthritis “for establishing the concept of autoinflammatory diseases,” describing an entirely new group of rare autoinflammatory diseases, leading to the development of effective treatments.
The prize is worth six million Swedish krona, which is about $700,000. [Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences]
