Vietnam reports 14 COVID-19 recoveries, 1 imported infection

Photo: Quang Hung / Tuoi Tre Vietnam’s Ministry of Health announced 14 COVID-19 recoveries along with one imported infection on Monday. The total number of recovered patients has reached 1,425 as of Tuesday morning. The new case is a Vietnamese repatriate who returned from Indonesia. She landed at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on board flight SQ192 on January 10. She was quarantined upon arrival as per COVID-19 prevention protocols. She tested negative for the novel coronavirus on January 11 before being retested on January 23, with the result coming back positive at the Hanoi Center for Disease Control one day later.

Anh / Tuoi Tre Doctors at major hospitals in several Vietnamese localities have convened an online meeting to discuss treatment for a 79-year-old COVID-19 patient after her conditions turned critical. The patient returned to Vietnam from the United States on January 13, according to a Ministry of Health report.  Her family member in the U.S. was also infected with COVID-19. She tested positive for the novel coronavirus on January 14 and is being treated at the Da Nang Hospital for Lung Diseases in the central city of Da Nang.
