WASHINGTON, Jan. 27, 2021 /PRNewswire/ On Jan. 27, the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) entered into an affiliation agreement to become a Strategic Alliance Member of The Association of Union Constructors (TAUC). With this agreement, these two industry-leading trade associations will work together on issues impacting the construction and maintenance industry on a national and regional level.
NECA and TAUC will work to collaborate on issues impacting the industry and conduct joint meetings and share information of mutual interest relating to environmental health and safety, industrial relations, government affairs, and innovation and technology. This will include development of joint products and practices, along with marketing and promotional efforts and much more.

As the world navigates COVID-19, workers around the country are adapting to numerous new policies and procedures on the jobsite to maintain a safe environment but how are these new standards impacting our productivity long-term?
New Horizons Foundation, a member foundation and the premier research arm of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA), created the New Horizons Foundation COVID-19 Task Force to pursue the answer. New Horizons paralleled research efforts with Electri, the research arm of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), to leverage strength in numbers. The resulting report from New Horizons quantifies the negative impacts of a pandemic on construction productivity and the associated lost time in mitigation. As part of the effort to train workers for jobs that address climate change, the California Workforce Development Board has provided a $1.25 million grant for training and certification through a new nonprofit, Energy Storage and Microgrid Training and Certification (ESAMTAC).
