A report from the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety which reveals nearly 40 per cent of aged care residents are being abused is “gobsmacking”, says National Seniors Australia Chief Advocate Ian Henschke.
“Australia, if you think about it, we should be doing so much better than what we’re doing at the moment,” Mr Henschke told Sky News host Chris Smith.
“You’ve got to remember that in aged care, many people are unable to express and tell people that they’ve been abused because we know that somewhere around 50 per cent of people have got some form of dementia and in some places it’s higher.
