Fixed internet subscriptions increase in Oman

Muscat: Oman’s total fixed internet subscriptions rose 6.9 per cent to touch 506,091 at the end of November 2020 compared to the same period for 2019.
Of this, fixed broadband internet connections, which have more than 256 kilobytes speed, rose 6.9 per cent to 504,049 at the end of November 2020, according to the latest data released by National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The number of active mobile broadband subscribers rose 12.1 per cent to 5.31 million at the end of November 2020 compared to the same period of 2019, whereas total fixed telephone lines fell by 0.7 per cent to 591,316.

More than 1.5 million vehicles registered in the Sultanate

Muscat: The total number of vehicles registered in the Sultanate in November 2020 reached 1.55 million, according to a recent update from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Private vehicles topped the list of total vehicles registered at the end of November 2020, with 78.4 percent; followed by 15.4 percent commercial vehicles; 1.9 percent taxis and 1.6 percent rental vehicles.
Foreign direct investment in Oman tops OMR15bn

Muscat: Foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Sultanate reached OMR15.06 billion at the end of the first quarter of 2020, according to the data of the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Praising the efforts made by the Sultanate in promoting world trade, officials of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) said that Oman is a supportive partner in the activities of the WTO, with a long history in global trade.
The Sultanate’s global trade legacy is being employed with high efficiency through its membership and role as a supportive partner in the WTO and its pivotal role in the organisation at all levels
Over 12,000 residential plots allotted in Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Housing allotted a total of 12,474 residential properties across the country at the end of November 2020, compared to 25,220 plots in the same period of 2019, which is a decrease of 50.5 per cent, according to statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The governorate of North Al Sharqiyah was allotted 2,040 residential lands at the end of November 2020, which is the highest among governorates. This was followed by South Al Sharqiyah with 1,768; Al Dakhiliyah with 1,726 plots; Muscat with 1,680 plots; Al Dhahirah with 1,425; and North Al Batinah with 1,398 properties.
