It s no secret; nasty weather is headed our way late tonight into early Friday morning that will bring blizzard like conditions and more snow.
According to the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities, a fast moving Arctic cold front will bring potentially dangerous conditions to the QCA Thursday and Thursday night. Early Thursday morning, we ll be seeing rain, possibly mixed with freezing rain and sleet will move into eastern Iowa.

According to the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities we can expect between 2 - 5 inches of snow in our area and 4 -6 are expected north of the I-80 corridor.
Rain will change over to snow more quickly this evening, which makes travel especially hazardous.
Heavy wet snow makes shoveling extra tough. If you know someone who can help move snow, it might be a good idea to make arrangements for that now. Gusty winds will likely cause blowing and drifting snow too.

We knew earlier this week that a snow storm was heading towards the Quad Cities and much of the northern part of the listening area this weekend. Since we have gotten closer to the weekend and the storm approaching, more details about the storm are becoming more apparent.
Winter Storm Watch will go into effect for most of the Quad Cities area Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning.

Most of this snow is going to impact most of the northern part Quad Cities area, especially along I-80. I assume as we move into Saturday, this Winter Storm Watch will probably get bumped up to a Winter Storm Warning, especially due to snowfall total predictions, strong winds and drifting snow. That hasn t happened yet, but don t be surprised.

Get the shovel and snow blower ready to go! More snow is expected to impact the Quad Cities this weekend and lasting through the early part of next week.
This weekend will bring some more snow to the Quad Cities and it will be on and off through Monday evening. We will see most of the snow fall Saturday night and Sunday night through Monday evening. Fortunately, we will have a little break in the snow most of the day on Sunday.
The National Weather Service of the Quad Cities says that light snow will fall Saturday evening across areas north of I-80. The bulk of the snow will fall late Saturday night into early Sunday. The highest snow totals are forecasted to fall along highway 20.
