Plush Thorpe spa plays Santa to reward vital frontline workers with vouchers

BOSSES at a calming resort have given the gift of relaxation to local frontline workers and organisations who have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic. The Lifehouse Spa & Hotel, in Thorpe-le-Soken, specialises in the art of wellbeing and sits in 12 acres of stunning gardens which are English Heritage Listed. As a result of coronavirus, like many other businesses, the site has been forced to close on various occasions, but it is currently open. In the true spirit of Christmas, the spa has now given free gift vouchers to those who have had no choice but continuing working throughout the pandemic. The Walton Food Bank, East of England Ambulance Service, Clacton RNLI, Nanny Jo’s Nursery, Delamer Care Home have all be given vouchers.

Staff from now shut Watford John Lewis raise money for charity

Staff who worked at the now shut John Lewis department store at intu have held a charity sale to raise money for an animal trust. Kind-hearted former staff members sold off end of lines and ex-display stock from the store, which closed in July, and donated the proceeds to charity. A total of £2,510 was donated to Watford’s rescue and rehoming centre, the National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT), which closed to the public due to the coronavirus pandemic. This meant it lost income from its café and cancelled fundraising events. The donation will fund a new kitchen at the trust to prepare the animals’ meals - NAWT says the current one is run down .

This sweet guinea pig pair are looking for a home together

Hello, my name’s Mary and this is my boyfriend Moley. We are two-year-old guinea pigs looking for a home together. We came to the National Animal Welfare Trust in November when our owner’s circumstances changed. We can be a little shy to begin with but, once we get to know you, we’re a very sweet and cuddly pair. We’re very chatty and will greet our carers every morning and squeak for our breakfast! We love all veg but kale is our favourite. We also like to chew on apple branches. As we don’t produce Vitamin C by ourselves, we do need fresh veggies morning and night.
