As many a post on this site has noted, after citing a long-ago newspaper account of a Cubs game, They don t write em like that any more!
The following is a stellar example of its kind: the Chicago Tribune s report, published 125 years ago today, on May 5, 1896, of a walk-off victory by the Cubs (then known as the Colts) over the Dodgers (then known as the Bridegrooms), thanks to the bat of 44-year-old player/manager Cap Anson.
