IIT Gandhinagar comes out with Whitepaper to help Educational, other Institutions set up in-house COVID care facilities

Share Gandhinagar: Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar has come out with a Whitepaper on the COVID-19 Care Facility it established in the campus during April 2021 to tackle the surge in cases in campus and local community during the Second Wave. The institute is keen that other institutions and communities across the country benefit from their experience in setting up this in-house COVID care facility and reduce the pressure on healthcare facilities across India. Also, the Union Ministry of Health on Monday (17th May 2021) advocated for the creation of 30-bed Covid Care Centres in schools, community halls, panchayat buildings, educational institutions, housing societies and other communities.

Punjab left with only 1 9L doses of vaccine

Updated: Share Article AAA Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on Monday said the State was left with only 1.9 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccine due to the lesser supply of the vaccine from the Centre. “Out of this available stock, more than 1 lakh doses expected to be used today [April 26],” said Mr. Sidhu, adding that about 1.5 lakh beneficiaries got vaccinated as on April 25 and Chief Minister Punjab Amarinder Singh has already raised the alarming situation of Punjab due to increasing cases of COVID and demanded regular supply of COVID-19 vaccine and oxygen from the Centre. He said that the State government is organising vaccination at all the primary health centers and health wellness centers as well as special camps in the rural areas. He said the health department had written a letter to the Union Ministry of Health on April 22, demanding 10 lakh doses of vaccine.

In a tweet, the Chief Minister said, The situation of oxygen supply in Punjab is extremely critical due to rising COVID-19. I request Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan to urgently enhance daily quota and to ensure allotted Liquid Manufacturing Oxygen supplies are released to Punjab.

India s total active caseload slumps below 0 3 million, lowest in 163 days

India has achieved another milestone in the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak as the active caseload of the country has fallen below 3 lakh for the first time after 163 days, while the total recoveries have surpassed 96 lakhs, said the Union Ministry of Health on Tuesday. The active caseload was below the 3 lakh mark i.e. 2,92,258 last on 12 July, according to an official release. The Ministry said that the share of active cases in the total positive cases has further shrunk below 3 per cent to 2.90 per cent. A net decline of 11,121 cases has been recorded in the total active cases in the last 24 hours.
