Alappuzha (Kerala) [India], March 5 (ANI): After interventions were made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to save a 1000-year-old Christian church in Kerala s Alappuzha district from demolition, the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church (MOSC) has decided to support the BJP leader who took the initiative to protect it.
St George Orthodox Church Cheppad faced the demolition threat due to a proposed widening of a national highway. Fr KM Varghese Kaleekkal the former vicar of that church said that it was BJP leader Dr R Balashankar who helped the church during the crisis.

New Delhi: The Central Election Committee (CEC) of the BJP will deliberate on Friday to finalise party candidates for the first two phases of the Assembly elections in West Bengal and Assam.
The members of the CEC, which included Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Sinh, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, senior leader BL Santosh, also met on Thursday evening to discuss the names of probable candidates.
Among others who attended the meeting held at the party headquarters were Thawar Chand Gehlot, Jual Oram, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Bihar minister Shahnawaz Hussain.
Arunachal Pradesh To Build 966 Km Long Highway Connecting Eastern And Western Corners Of The State

The state government of Arunachal Pradesh plans to take up the construction of the proposed two lane East-West Industrial Corridor Highway project with the central government.
The proposed highway project will be built along the foothills of the state from the tri-junction of Bhutan, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam to Ruksin, located in the district of East Siang.
This was informed by Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday (4 March) in reply to a question raised in the assembly, reports

New Delhi: Ahead of Assembly elections in West Bengal, a meeting of the BJP s Central Election Committee (CEC) is underway to finalise the first list of candidates for 60 seats.
Elections in Bengal, which will be a direct fight between the ruling TMC and the opposition BJP in the state, will be held in eight phases between March 27 and April 29. The counting of votes will be done on May 2.
