The dry run is aimed at testing the laid out mechanisms for COVID-19 vaccination roll-out in the health system, Punjab s Health Minister Balbir Singh said. It will provide insights on any gaps or bottlenecks so that those could be addressed before the commencement of the COVID-19 drive. The dry run is to be conducted in one or two districts, under the overall leadership of District Collector/Magistrate, he said.

According to the sources, the pneumonia vaccine will be much more affordable than existing ones manufactured by two foreign companies.
India’s drug regulator in July had granted market approval for the ‘Pneumococcal Polysaccharide Conjugate vaccine’. It did so after reviewing the phase 1, 2 and 3 clinical trial data submitted by the Pune-based firm.

Mumbai civic body prepares blueprint for Covid-19 vaccine distribution, storage plan
As India may begin its COVID-19 vaccination drive as early as January 2021, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has prepared a vaccine administration, distribution and storage plan. The civic body has identified eight hospitals as Covid-19 vaccination centres â KEM Hospital, Sion Hospital, Nair Hospital, Cooper Hospital, Bandra Bhabha Hospital, VN Desai Hospital, Rajawadi Hospital and Bharat Ratna Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital and aims to train its staff for vaccination by January 7. Till now 80 thousand health workers have registered on COVID portal in Mumbai, the BMC informed on Monday.
Six passengers who entered the country on Air India’s London-Delhi flight have tested positive for Covid-19 on arrival, a senior government official said on Tuesday.
This comes at a time when a new strain of the coronavirus has led to millions entering a stringent new stay-at-home lockdown in the UK from Sunday, with non-essential shops and businesses now closed.
The flight landed around 11:30 pm on Monday.
“Five passengers were found Covid-positive at the Delhi airport. One passenger, who took a connecting flight to Chennai, was tested there and found positive,” the official said.
In a separate case, two passengers from the UK were found positive for Covid-19 after they arrived at the airport at Calcutta, health department officials said on Tuesday.
