Over 33 lakh people have succumbed to the coronavirus pandemic in the past year and a half, but the world is still awaiting conclusive answers to the all-important questions: Is Covid-19 a man-made bio-weapon? Did the virus leak accidentally from a lab in Wuhan? Or was there no human lapse at all? Was it just a case of transmission from animals to humans? Media reports referring to Chinese documents allegedly obtained by the US State Department have turned the spotlight on sinister possibilities. The papers written by Chinese military scientists and public health officers in 2015 describe SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) coronaviruses, of which Covid is an example, as presenting a ‘new era of genetic weapons’. According to the reports published in the Australian and British media, the People’s Liberation Army documents seem to fantasise that a bioweapon attack could cause the ‘enemy’s medical system to collapse’

Chennai, May 11 : Indian states like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Tamil Nadu are getting lower share of vaccine than their need as against Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra which are getting more, said integrated securities company Emkay Global Financial Services.
In a report Emkay Global said as per its study, states like Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Delhi have much lower current share than they need, whereas Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra are receiving relatively more.
Japan to provide 8 Oxygen plants for Northeast: Dr Jitendra
NEW DELHI: In a major breakthrough to elicit assistance and support for augmenting COVID management and control, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today disclosed that Japan and UNDP have partnered to provide eight Oxygen generation plants to ensure uninterrupted Oxygen supply at hospitals in the Northeast.
He further informed that the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) is pro-actively assisting all the eight North Eastern States to fight the second wave of COVID-19 effectively.

New Delhi: The Congress on Monday decided to postpone its internal elections to choose a new president on account of the alarming situation of the COVID-19 pandemic. In a Congress Working Committee meeting held in January, the party postponed the internal elections until June 2021, keeping in mind the impending assembly elections in four states and one union territory in May.
The January meeting was held amidst growing demands by a rebel group of 23 leaders to fix the leadership issue in the party, and replace the interim president Sonia Gandhi by choosing a new leader who can steer the party in the future. The Gandhi loyalists had then prevailed over the rebels by postponing the elections until June 2021, citing that t
