When Hyderabad-based Pharma major, Dr Reddy’s announced that it was partnering the RIDF, Moscow to undertake clinical trials and distribute the Sputnik V vaccine in India in the September 2020, as the global pandemic was spreading fast, it raised both public and market interest.
In March 2021, Dr Reddy’s says, its just weeks before the Vaccine could get clearance from Indian regulators for use. In the meantime, atleast half a dozen Indian drug majors have entered into tie-ups with the RIDF, the Russian Sovereign Fund for production.
Interestingly, with four of these drug companies located in Hyderabad, the city is fast turning out to be the biggest Hub for the Russian Vaccine. The Congress party, which is sharing power with Shiv Sena and NCP in Maharashtra on Thursday slammed the Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and BJP for doing politics on the vaccination issue. The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee chief Nana Patole demanded that Dr. Harsh Vardhan should apologise to the people of the state for his criticism over the vaccination management. ââDr Harsh Vardhan is running away from his responsibility and making allegations irresponsibly against the state government,ââ he noted.
Patole attacked state BJP leaders for levelling charges against the state government instead of using their good offices to get Central assistance in the coronavirus management especially additional supply of vaccine doses when the cases are rising.

New Delhi [India], April 9 (ANI): Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Friday informed that 0.46 per cent of active COVID-19 patients are on ventilators and 2.31 per cent are in ICU. Right now 0.46 per cent of the active critical patients are on ventilators, 2.31 per cent are in the ICU, and 4.51 per cent are on oxygen-supported beds, Harsh Vardhan said while speaking at the 24th meeting of the high-level Group of Ministers (GoM) on COVID-19.

Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta today said that the state is short of COVID-19 vaccines and is only left with stock for one to two days.
Mr Gupta said: We have stock for the next one-two days. We have made a request to the Union Home Minister and I am hopeful that he will provide the vaccines. Around 83 lakh people need to get first and second doses of the vaccine. It means we will need around 1.60 crore doses. We are getting it gradually. We do have vaccines available with us but there has been a shortage at some locations. So, we have spoken to Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, he added.
