(WBTV) - Deputies in Alamance County are asking for the public’s help locating a man they say played a role in the deadly shootout that left a a Union County charter school teacher-coach and another man dead. Gar-Yon-Ded-Weh Stepney is wanted on a first-degree murder charge for his alleged involvement in the double homicide that occurred on April 8 in Green Level, N.C.

North Carolina Teacher Killed in Shootout After Trying To Rob A Drug Cartel

By Victor Omondi Barney Dale Harris, a North Carolina teacher, was murdered in what authorities have termed as an “old Western shootout” with members of a Mexican drug cartel. The 40-year-old Harris taught Spanish and was head coach of the varsity basketball and track teams at Union Academy Charter School in Monroe, North Carolina, 27 miles outside of Charlotte. He was found lifeless in what authorities have described as a trailer being used as a drug “stash house.” Harris and his brother-in-law, Steven Alexander Stewart, supposedly went to a mobile home park to steal money and drugs from the stash house and at one point were met with gunshots. Harris was found wearing a face cover, gloves, and a bulletproof vest.
