Nassau To Start COVID Vaccine Pop-Ups In Hardest-Hit Communities

(Carly Baldwin/Patch) HEMPSTEAD, NY Nassau County will begin a series of pop-up vaccine distribution clinics on Monday, which the county said will help distribute vaccines to eligible people in some of the hardest-hit areas of the county. The first pop-up inoculation site will be at the Union Baptist Church in Hempstead. Because of limited vaccine supplies, the county will be inoculating about 150 people, which have all already been approved and scheduled. The shots will be going to church congregants who are over 65. Nassau County is committed to an equitable distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine, Nassau County Executive Laura Curran said in a statement. The seeing eye Jan 16, 2021 MLK COMMEMORATION: The YWCA Mahoning Valley and the MLK Planning Committee are preparing Martin Luther King Jr. Day events this weekend. The annual worship service will be held virtually 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The speaker will be the Rev. Michael Harrison, pastor of Union Baptist Church and president of the Ohio Baptist State Convention. There is a workshop set for 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Monday on Zoom, covering the topics criminal justice, health care and youth empowerment. The theme this year is “Fifty-three Years Later: Remembering What is Civil: Doing What is Right.” Both the service and workshop will be livestreamed and recorded. The workshop requires people to pre-register and select a breakout room of personal interest.
