Friday, February 5th 2021, 9:03 am By: CBS News On his first day in office, President Biden signed an executive order revoking the permit for the Keystone XL oil pipeline, pleasing climate activists and Indigenous groups. If completed, Keystone would span nearly 1,200 miles, carrying carbon-heavy oil south from Canada to the Gulf Coast.  The pipeline was an obstacle to Mr. Biden s campaign promise to create 10 million clean energy jobs. The order nixing it stated the pipeline would not serve the U.S. national interest and said the U.S. must prioritize the development of a clean energy economy, which will in turn create good jobs.

Gretchen Whitmer to Ferris State University’s Board of Trustees, a news release said Monday. Heartwell currently serves as a member of the Great Lakes Water Quality Board, Muskegon River Watershed Assembly, Newaygo Economic Development Corporation, Environmental Law and Policy Center Michigan Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals for the City of Newaygo and for Garfield Township. His term will begin Jan. 1 and lasts until Dec. 31, 2028.
