Recently, officials with the City of Prestonsburg and Floyd County Fiscal Court announced that they are jointly seeking to acquire the property that houses the former Thunder Ridge raceway.
In making the announcement, officials said they want take the property and make it an industrial site to attract potential employers to the community.
Itâs an attractive facility in terms of economic development, because of its location in proximity to U.S. 23 and its infrastructure. In fact, one local business â Big Sandy Rural Electric Co-Op â has expressed interest in potentially moving its headquarters from Paintsville to the newly-proposed industrial site.

Entries are now open for the ExportNZ ASB Hawke s Bay Export Awards to celebrate those in an industry that weathered enormous upheaval in 2020 due to Covid-19.
Due to be held at Toitoi: Hawke s Bay Arts & Events Centre in July, the awards aim to celebrate the successes of Hawke s Bay exports.
ExportNZ Hawke s Bay executive officer Amanda Liddle said entries are open to companies from Gisborne to Pahiatua.
