The company is a new producer based in Samarkand, the second-largest city in the country. In a joint transaction with the EBRD, Hamkorbank is providing a loan of up to €2.92 million to Midas Plastics, while 60 per cent of the risk on the loan will be shared by the EBRD under a Risk Sharing Facility signed between the financial institutions.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is supporting the expansion of the Turkmen tomato producer Agromar with a US$ 2.5 million loan for the extension of the company’s production facilities.
Agromar was established in 2016 and nowadays is one of Turkmenistan s leading growers, packers and marketers of premium quality fresh tomatoes. Their core produce categories include medium TOVs and cherry tomatoes. Over 80% of their tomatoes are exported to Eastern European countries and MENA region.
Agromar is a well-established brand on the home market as well as in Russia, Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic. The owner of the brand is the company ES Milli Hasyl, which plans to use the EBRD loan for an expansion of its hydroponics greenhouse. The company plans to construct additional 5.0ha greenhouses with advanced cooling systems.

EBRD President sets out strategy In an interview with the Financial Times, EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso spoke about the Bank’s strategies in its most challenging countries of operations. She stated that the Bank’s focus on private-sector lending helped strengthen civil society against repressive regimes. The Bank, she said, wanted to “help countries move in the right direction.” Green Transformation in Poland Grzegorz Zieliński, EBRD Regional Director Central Europe and Head of Poland, spoke to Poland’s daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna about the country’s green transformation. He noted that over 60 per cent of the EBRD s financing in Poland is now green-focused. “Renewable energy sources are the most obvious direction, but we need to clarify how to finance energy efficiency in every area of the economy”, he said.
