Phase 2 of 2020 Sewer Budget Utility Improvement Project to start Tuesday Phase 2 of 2020 Sewer Budget Utility Improvement Project to start Tuesday By KAUZ Team | January 18, 2021 at 3:06 PM CST - Updated January 18 at 6:48 PM WICHITA FALLS, Texas (TNN) - Construction will begin Tuesday at the corner of Hamilton Boulevard and Woodrow Avenue as a part of Phase 2 of the 2020 Sewer Budget Utility Improvement Project. The City of Wichita Falls says the contractor is planning to divide the work into sections to minimize disruptions on the road. This plan means they will only need to temporarily close about one block section at a time.

Construction to Begin on Phase 2 of Sewer Budget Utility Project

Expect some traffic disruptions along parts of Brook Avenue and the surrounding area over the next few months. Starting Tuesday, January 19, construction crews will begin work at the corner of Hamilton Boulevard and Woodrow Avenue. The contractor will divide the work into sections in an effort to minimize traffic disruptions. The plan is to temporarily close approximately 1 block sections at a time. Once crews wrap up work on Woodrow Avenue, they will work their way north on Cherokee Avenue, concluding with Brook Avenue. Be on the lookout for detour signs in the area due to the closures. Businesses along Brook Avenue will be provided access from adjacent cross streets.

Maplewood Avenue to be Closed for Construction

Maplewood Avenue to be Closed for Construction Another round of construction is about to begin on Maplewood. Starting Monday, January 11, 2021, the west end of Maplewood Avenue at the McNeil Avenue intersection will be closed due to the 2019 Maplewood Avenue Extension Project. It’s expected that construction will last about three months. During that time, Maplewood at McNeil will be closed to eastbound traffic. While it’s going to be an inconvenience for the next few months, as someone who lives in that area, it’s going to be well worth it once the Maplewood Extension Project is completed. It’ll be nice to be able to quickly travel to and from the stores and restaurants on Lawrence Road from my neighborhood.
