Andrew Yang files papers to run for NYC mayor in 2021

NEW YORK â Businessman and former presidential candidate Andrew Yang has filed papers to enter the already crowded Democratic field in the race for mayor of New York City in 2021.
Yang filed papers with the New York City Campaign Finance Board Wednesday to join the race. Yang, a CNN commentator following his run for president, now arguably has the highest national profile of any of the candidates.
The former ambassador for global entrepreneurship under President Barack Obama has not officially announced his run. Yang grew up in Westchester County, went to law school at Columbia and began his legal career in New York City.

Andrew Yang, the entrepreneur who ran for President of the United States as a Democrat, generating an enthusiastic following dubbed the Yang Gang, is edging closer to running for New York City mayor.
Yang registered a committee with the Campaign Finance Board on Wednesday, allowing him to begin raising funds, according to CFB spokesperson Matt Sollars. He also opted into CFB’s 8-to-1 matching funds program that allow registered voters in New York City to contribute a maximum of $250 to a campaign that can then be matched eight times that amount. This could stretch small-dollar contributions to a maximum of $2,000, reducing corporate influence in elections.

Former Democratic Presidential candidate Andrew Yang has filed paperwork to form a Mayoral campaign committee and begin a run for Mayor of New York City.
NEW YORK - Former Democratic Presidential Candidate Andrew Yang has filed paperwork to run for mayor of New York City, the city s Campaign Finance Board confirmed on Wednesday.
Yang, an entrepreneur and philanthropist, became hugely popular during the Democratic presidential primaries based on his call for a Freedom Dividend, which would give every American a universal basic income of $1,000 a month.
