SCV Water To Host Virtual Urban Water Management Plan Workshop  The Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency (SCV Water) is inviting residents to attend a virtual public workshop to discuss the Agencies Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) Update next week.  The workshop is scheduled for Monday, March 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., according to SCV Water officials.    This UWMP workshop is the third public workshop before the draft plan is made available for public review and comment, according to officials.  Workshop participants are set to learn about how this updated plan assesses long-term water reliability through buildout 2050 and learn about the area’s seismic risk and the mitigation plan to ensure continued water supplies after disruptive and “catastrophic” events, according to officials.

The plan intends to develop more than 50% of the city s locally by 2045. A major factor in this goal will be the city s Pure Water recycling program, which purifies recycled water to be used as safe drinking water. The project is expected to be fully implemented by the end of 2035 and have the capacity to create 83 million gallons of water daily.

A Canyon Country man was arrested last week on suspicion of stealing money from the cash register at his place of work in Castaic. On Feb. 5, deputies were called to a business on the 31500 block of Castaic Road regarding a grand theft, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, a spokeswoman for the SCV Sheriff’s Station. “Upon arrival, deputies learned the suspect, who is an employee at the location, had been voiding transactions and stealing money from the cash register,” said Arriaga. At the time of the report, no arrest was made and the suspect was not present during the investigation.

County Metro board of directors approved a $679.4 million total budget for the Interstate 5 North County Enhancement Project in the Santa Clarita Valley on Thursday, setting the stage for the project to move forward with construction of new carpool lanes.
