Owen Sound could soon be getting a rainbow crosswalk to signify its support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
Staff is recommending the city create the six-coloured crosswalk at the newly installed pedestrian crossing on 8
th Street East near the 8
th Street bridge and Owen Sound Farmer’s Market.

A recommendation report is to be presented to the operations committee Tuesday and any motion will then require council approval.
“We have a new crosswalk in a fairly prominent location and you see a lot of other communities around the world that have started the initiative to create rainbow crosswalks to show support for the LGBTQ2S+ community,” said Dennis Kefalas, the city’s director of public works and engineering.
