Steven Rausch was found with critical injuries at a unit complex on Hill Street on May 4. Despite paramedics best efforts the 54-year-old died at the scene. Emergency services were first called to the address at 8:45pm with reports a man has set fire to a chair on a balcony. When they arrived they found Mr Rausch lying near a garden bed, with a fire extinguisher next to him. Detectives attached to Mid North Coast Police District established Strike Force Fernyhough to investigate. Mid North Coast Police District Crime Manager, Detective Acting Inspector Pete O’Reilly says there are still several lines of inquiry to follow in relation to Steven’s death.

A motorcyclist has been killed in a two-vehicle crash on the New South Wales mid north coast. Emergency services were called to King Creek Road, King Creek, about 5km east of Wauchope about 2.40pm on Sunday after a Holden Statesman sedan collided with a motorcycle. The male motorcyclist, 51, died at the scene, despite desperate efforts by paramedics to save him. The Holden driver, a 74-year-old man, was taken to Port Macquarie Hospital to be treated for minor injuries and undergo mandatory testing. Police are investigating a two vehicle crash on the NSW mid north coast on Sunday afternoon A crime scene was established by officers from Mid North Coast Police District which Crash Investigation Unit investigators attended.

Date Time Man pulled from water dies at Crescent Head A man who was pulled from the water at a beach on the state’s Mid North Coast today has died. About 3.15pm (Saturday 15 May 2021), emergency services were called to Killick Beach at Crescent Head, after reports a man had been pulled from the water unconscious. He was treated by witnesses prior to the arrival of police and paramedics, who continued treatment, but he died at the scene. The man was believed to be aged in his 60s. Officers from Mid North Coast Police District have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Fatal crash north of Kempsey

A man has died following a two-vehicle crash on the Mid North Coast this morning. About 4.45am (Friday 7 May 2021), emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway near Macleay Valley Way at Bellimbopinni, about 5km north of Kempsey, following reports a car had struck the rear of a stationary truck. The passenger of the car, a 29-year-old man, died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified. The driver, a 23-year-old woman, was and taken to Port Macquarie Hospital for mandatory testing. Her injuries are not yet known. The male driver of the truck was uninjured. Officers from Mid North Coast Police District established a crime scene, which will be forensically examined by investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Date Time Homemade weapon, ammunition seized; man charged – South Kempsey A man has been charged after drugs and a homemade weapon were located during a vehicle stop on the state’s Mid North Coast last night. About 11.45pm (Sunday 2 May 2021), officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District entered the carpark of a service station on Lachlan Street, South Kempsey, and spoke with the 26-year-old male driver of a parked Toyota Corolla. Police will allege the man made several attempts to evade police in nearby streets prior to police stopping the car. Upon further inquiries, police conducted a vehicle search where they located and seized methylamphetamine, cannabis seeds, a homemade firearm, ammunition and other prohibited weapons including flick knives.
