Named after an infant alien, an outer space bounty hunter, a Jedi Knight and a fictional desert planet, four great white sharks with Star Wars-inspired names were given the spotlight Tuesday, May 4, a day meant to celebrate the colossal science-fiction franchise.
“ ‘May the Fourth’ be with you and happy Star Wars Day! We wanted to share some white sharks that share the name of some Star Wars characters,” the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy wrote in a tweet.
The conservancy, a nonprofit that seeks to bolster scientific research and track shark sightings, posted images of the great whites that have swum near the Bay State alongside the message about National Star Wars Day, otherwise known as “May the 4th.”
