The Wyoming Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the request of a Casper man to reduce his prison sentence for sexually abusing a girl.
In January 2019, Natrona County District Court Judge Kerri Johnson sentenced Christopher Terrence Coffey to 13.5 years to 15 years for second-degree sexual abuse of a girl born in 2004.
Johnson agreed with the prosecution s recommendation because of the effects on the victim and the defendant s prior criminal history including three felonies. The maximum sentence could have been 20 years imprisonment.
Before Johnson handed down the sentence, the victim s mother read a victim impact statement, saying Coffey had opportunities to reform but didn t change, and the victim has been in therapy and will suffer for a long time.
A Casper man will serve four years probation after a 5-year-old consumed meth under his care and needed to go to the hospital.
Rowdy Patterson was sentenced on four counts of child endangerment with methamphetamine. A fifth charge, child abuse, was dropped as part of an earlier plea agreement.
Assistant Natrona County District Attorney Mike Schafer said prosecuting the case was a low point.

BREAKING: Judge Rejects New Trial for Casper Man Who Shot Mother
A Natrona County District Court Judge on Monday ruled against a new trial for a Casper man convicted of murder in the shooting death of his mother.
Judge Daniel Forgey rejected defense attorneys argument that Andrew Steplock did not receive adequate representation during his November 2019 jury trial.
Andrew Steplock has exhausted virtually all of his legal options for a new trial. He does have the option of appealing Forgey s ruling to the Wyoming Supreme Court.
Prior to the trial, a psychologist for the Wyoming State Hospital determined that Steplock did not lack substantial capacity as a result of mental illness or deficiency, to appreciate the wrongfulness of his conduct or to conform his conduct to the requirements of law.

Replogle is known to have numerous tattoos, including the name “Kassandra” tattooed on the left side of his neck, and the word “Scorpion” tattooed on the right side of his neck. Replogle was originally sentenced in 2019 in Natrona County District Court on forgery charges.

An affidavit of probable cause alleges that police were called to an apartment in the 600 block of CY Avenue after a woman reported her roommate was upset and smashing things. Officers left after determining no one was in danger.
But police were called back to the apartment roughly an hour later after a neighbor heard screaming and a man saying he was going to slit someone s throat, the affidavit says. Officers found broken furniture, scattered clothes and garbage along with large amounts of blood spatter on the wall and pooling blood on the floor.
