NEWPORT, N.H. The Sullivan County COVID-19 vaccination site at River Valley Community College in Claremont is closing next week, according to the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services.
Beginning on Thursday, the new site will be the former Dollar Store in the Shaw’s Plaza at 62 John Stark Highway in Newport.
“We continue efforts to move vaccination sites indoors wherever possible, to increase our throughput, allow for easier social distancing and to avoid bad weather,” Jake Leon, a DHHS spokesman, said in an email.
Appointments scheduled for Claremont on April 8 or later will instead take place at the new site in Newport at the same date and time, Leon said.
COVID-19: NH schedules DHMC vaccination clinic for teachers, other school workers

WEST LEBANON Public health officials are planning two vaccination clinics geared to about 2,000 school employees working on the New Hampshire side of the Upper Valley later this month.
The clinics, slated for March 20 and 27 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, are intended for teachers, bus drivers, classroom aides, substitute teachers and anyone else who is critical to the function of their New Hampshire school regardless of their state of residence, Alice Ely, executive director of the Public Health Council of the Upper Valley, said in an interview Thursday.
The health council is working directly with K-12 schools, both public and private, to identify and register staff who want to be vaccinated. Individuals cannot sign up for these clinics on their own.

Get outside and enjoy the Whaleback experience
We want to give a huge shoutout to the Upper Valley for supporting Whaleback Mountain ski area over many generations and owners. This season, Whaleback has been providing all visitors and families, young and old, with its classic New England ski experience, and the conditions have been great!
Since Whaleback is a community-owned nonprofit asset, it relies on all of us to support its continued success. It doesn’t have a budget like the institutional-owned hills do, but Whaleback does have the spirit of all of us in its DNA. If you haven’t skied or ridden at the Whale this season, you should get out and enjoy a socially distanced experience on the hill, or around the fire pit after a hard day.
