Ottawa County Summer Youth work program starts
FREMONT - Ottawa County high school students ages 14 to 18 are eligible to apply for Great Lakes Community Action Partnership’s (GLCAP) Summer Youth Employment program now.
GLCAP’s Summer Youth Employment program in partnership with OhioMeansJobs can assist those who qualify and are having trouble finding work this summer. Career coaches are available to help connect participants to local employers who have open positions and are looking for new hires.
“The additional benefits,” said GLCAP Youth Employment Specialist Bonnie Nusser, “are that you will only need to complete one application and, based on your eligibility, our career coaches will find an employer for you. There are also possibilities of working with a small group of your peers.”

Senior levy
Robin Richter, senior service director for Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP), said the replacement levy will take over for two 0.5-mill levies to clear up any ballot confusion and would generate $1.6 million annually for five years, up slightly from the preview two 0.5-mill levies that generated around $1.4 million. What we accomplished with a similar amount of money last year was we actually did over 100,000 meals, we did around 30,000 miles of transportation for seniors through TRIPS, she said.
