The Farmington Public Schools’ Farmington Early Childhood Center (FECC) opened enrollment for all families for the 2021-22 school year.
The Farmington Early Childhood Center is a brand new facility designed for early learners. The new building is equipped with child-sized furniture, bathrooms and learning resources.
Thoughtful planning went into the creation of a large gross motor room, gymnasium and an outdoor play area with several sections for different learning and play activities, school officials said. Learning opportunities are even provided in the hallways where students can engage with letters, numbers, shapes, patterns, colors and more.

Meet Your Administrator: Cindy Viveen
Name: Cindy Viveen
Byron Center Cindy Viveen is the new Early Childhood Center director.
The center, at 2300 84th St. SW, is home to the Room to Bloom daycare, tuition-based preschool classrooms and the Great Start Readiness Program. The new position puts the direction of early childhood programs under one umbrella.
“(Viveen) will be a wonderful addition to our team,” said Superintendent Kevin Macina. “She brings a wealth of knowledge with her background not only with her early childhood education, but her expertise in early childhood special education. This makes her background diverse and able to meet the needs of so many children.”
That’s why I reached out to Wendy Boyce, Great Start Collaborative Co-Coordinator of Ingham ISD, to provide information on how to enroll in a program. Here s what she had to share:
The www.inghampreschool.org website enables families to fill out one application to connect to one of many preschool programs. These preschool programs are available in local school districts and community–based providers that offer the tuition-free programs of the Great Start Readiness Program (4 year olds) and Head Start (3 and 4 year olds).
The website also provides more information about these preschool programs and program options, and answers frequently asked questions. Programs are currently being held in a variety of ways including virtual, face-to-face, or a hybrid model. Check out this video to see how fun, interactive and educational virtual preschool can be!
