(RIL) on Friday said fourth quarter consolidated net profit more than doubled to to ₹13,227 crore from ₹6,348 crore a year earlier as compared to ₹6,348 crore in the same period last year, up 108% on revenue growth of 13.6% to ₹172,095 crore from ₹ 15,1461 crore in the year ago period, up 13.62%.

Search Reliance posts 129 per cent jump in net profits for the fourth quarter Analysts had expected RIL to post net profits in the region of Rs 14,800 crore Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) on Friday beat Street estimates by posting a 129 per cent jump in net profits for the fourth quarter ended March 31, following a strong performance by the oil-to-chemical (O2C) and retail divisions. Consolidated net profit came in at Rs 14,995 crore compared with Rs 6,546 crore a year ago. The sharp jump in its bottomline, however, should be seen in the context of a low base last year since the onset of the pandemic had led to a lockdown, which not only affected its domestic business but exports as well.

US tells citizens to leave India as Covid-19 crisis deepens

The US government told its citizens to get out of India as soon as possible as the country’s Covid-19 crisis worsens at an astonishing pace. In a Level 4 travel advisory  the highest of its kind issued by the State Department US citizens were told “not to travel to India or to leave as soon as it is safe to do so”. There are 14 direct daily flights between India and the US

Energy stocks rise

Energy stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Energy index increasing 63.26 points or 1.01% at 6345.34 at 09:49 IST. Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 5.45%), Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd (up 4.35%),Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (up 3.3%),Goa Carbon Ltd (up 2.19%),Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (up 1.73%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (up 1.67%), Selan Explorations Technology Ltd (up 1.54%), Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (up 1.25%), Reliance Industries Ltd (up 1.11%), and Oil India Ltd (up 0.84%). On the other hand, Aegis Logistics Ltd (down 2.09%), Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd (down 1.4%), and Adani Total Gas Ltd (down 0.61%) turned lower.
