Seven persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were released last Wednesday, July 7, from the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) in Davao del Norte.
In a statement, DPPF said that six of those released were freed due to merits under the law on Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA), while one had served his mandatory rehabilitation and jail term.
The release of the PDLs was ordered in a memorandum issued by Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gerald Q. Bantag, DPPF said.
Those released were subjected to rapid antigen test that yielded negative results for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), it said.

Bureau of Corrections
On account of their good conduct while serving their minimum prison terms, four persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) have been released from the Correctional Institute for Women (CIW) in Mindanao.
In a statement, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said that those released had served their minimum jail terms and whose merits under the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) had been verified and confirmed.
“Four lives will start a new beginning as they were ordered ‘released’ to join the mainstream society for they had served the maximum period of their sentences through GCTA,” it said.
