Coronavirus cases continue to soar in Knox County into the new year.
Data released by the Knox County Unified Command Tuesday shows that in the last week, Tuesday, December 29, through Monday, January 4, 266 new cases of COVID were confirmed, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 4,273.
The health department did not release case numbers per age range but they do divulge that positive cases include 111 females and 155 males. 64 percent of all Knox County cases came from residents of Galesburg.
The Illinois Department of Public Health’s online dashboard shows that as of Tuesday, 107 people’s deaths have been attributed in some factor to the novel virus.
