The Malta Sustainability Forum, organised by APS Bank, launched this morning with the first day of a five-day event hosting over 80 local and foreign experts in the field of sustainability.
Under the overarching theme ‘The Time is Now’, the forum aims to draw the attention of all stakeholders and the public at large to the fact that efforts to deliver on the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) must be amplified immediately.

Egypt Gives: A Mission to End Homelessness Based on Compassion Scoop Empire
In every country, there are people who dedicate their lives to others, and instead of living for themselves, they choose a selfless path to better other people’s lives. A few months ago, Hana Wali, a young Egyptian AUCian, launched Egypt Gives to find people without a home and provide them with basic resources or move them into shelters, assist those who are below the poverty-line, and eventually create centres for them. These centres would offer free rehabilitation, psychological assistance, dental and medical care, and basic education; an inspiring contribution and mission of achieving a more inclusive society.
THE Jeffrey Cheah Foundation (JCF) has made sustainable development (SD) a core part of its vision and mission, giving it momentum by setting up the Jeffrey Sachs Center on Sustainable Development (JSC) in 2016. Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah answers questions from The Edge about the steps taken to make the SD agenda the basis for the Sunway Group’s contributions to society. The Edge: How is the JCF catalysing a shift in the national outlook towards a borderless, cooperative and inclusive society and economy?
Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah: For a country to prosper, it is not enough just to have education. It should also be of high quality, and made affordable and accessible.

Rimba Raya is the first REDD+ project validated under the SD VISta Program for its impact on each of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), resulting from the project’s various activities. The initiatives introduced prevent deforestation and land-use change and encourage community development and economic growth.
