Jonathan Van-Tam said he is delighted that his mother received the Covid-19 vaccine at her local GP surgery and has some protection against this deadly virus .
Elizabeth, who turned 79 this month, had her jab at a GP surgery in Whittlesey, six miles east of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire at 11am on Thursday.
Her son Professor Van-Tam, England s deputy chief medical officer, has previously spoken about encouraging her to be ready to have the jab when she got the call, and she confirmed that he had sent her lots of reminders .
Elizabeth said: I was really happy to get my Covid-19 vaccine.
