Park rally, virtual events recall MLK, honor King’s legacy
VACAVILLE More than 50 area residents turned out Monday at Andrews Park to celebrate the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
It included a group of six children, and others, who recited portions of King’s “I Have a Dream Speech,” which he delivered during what most remember as the March on Washington on Aug. 28, 1963.

CALISTOGA, Calif., Jan. 19, 2021 /PRNewswire/ The Wine Country Coalition for Safe Reopening (the Coalition ) announced today its filing of a lawsuit against Governor Gavin Newsom and California State Public Health Officer Tomás J. Aragón alleging that the state s ban on outdoor dining and wine tasting is arbitrary, irrational, and unfair. The impact of the ban has brought ravaging effects not just on local businesses but thousands of workers who have lost their jobs, the Coalition contends. The Coalition comprises more than 50 restaurants, wineries, tasting rooms, and suppliers across Napa and Sonoma Counties and other parts of the Bay Area.

Group launches Solano 30-day service activity, others plan MLK Day celebrations
FAIRFIELD The Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership kicks off its Martin Luther King Jr. Days of Service campaign Monday with “30 Days of Action” through Feb. 18.
Melinda Earp, Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership AmeriCorps VISTA in Marin and Sonoma counties, and Sophia Luna, an AmeriCorps VISTA member, have worked in partnership with AmeriCorps California and California Volunteers to design special Days of Service for 2021.
The campaign focuses on food insecurity.

Balloons Above the Valley will take another shot at getting its expansion proposal to fly.
The Planning Commission on Nov. 4 by a 3-2 vote refused to allow Balloons Above the Valley to increase launches from a rural property south of Yountville. Owner Robert Barbarick wants the allowed 50 launch days annually increased to year-round operation.

In response to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases within Napa County and surrounding areas, as well as the active regional stay-at-home order, the Napa County Superior Court continues to take steps to provide for the health and safety of court users and staff.
The court is postponing jury trials through at least Feb. 5, and rescheduling them for a later date. The Court previously acted to suspend jury trials in early December to reduce foot traffic in courthouses.
