Since her first harvest in Pennsylvania in 2003 until today, Nova Cadamatre, MW, has worked as a winemaker for two of the worldâs major wine brands at various wineries in California and New York, founded a family winery with her husband, Brian, in the Finger Lakes, and is set to launch a Finger Lakes project with Naked Wines, the companyâs first foray into New York wines.
During these 18 years, she also became the first U.S. woman winemaker to earn the Master of Wine qualification, got married and started a family.

Napa Valley Wine Academy Announces New Online Course February 19, 2021
Napa Valley - Napa Valley Academy announces the launch of a new online course, Wine 201: An Exploration of Wines of the World. The course follows the Academy’s highly popular Wine 101 course released two years ago, and offers a next-level opportunity for students to explore wine in more depth and breadth.
Offered 100% online, this intermediate course is jam-packed with 26 lessons, videos, interactive exercises, reviews, quizzes, and a final exam. Following successful completion of the course, the student will obtain a certification of completion which can be printed (and framed).
Wine 201 is ideal for students who have completed Wine 101 and wish to take further steps towards becoming a wine expert, but also for wine enthusiasts or trade who have some previous knowledge of wine, and wish for an intermediate course to deepen their learning of key wines of the world.

You have enjoyed a successful career working in US restaurants – what made you want to work in wine in the on-premise?
I entered the wine end of the restaurant industry in 1997. I had always worked in restaurants to pay for university. One night someone handed me a glass of what turned out to be Penfolds 1986 (when it was still known as Grange Hermitage) and it literally made me stop in my tracks. I had been serving wine for years as a server, but that sip alone, made me want to learn more. I offered to help the restaurant, receive, stock and inventory wine. Within a year, I was offered the job as wine dDirector.
