Charges have been dropped against director Paul Rackham(senior) - Credit: Eastern Daily Press © 2015 Charges against a director of a farming company accused of destroying otter and water vole shelters and breeding sites have been dropped. Paul Rackham senior, 84, of Manor Farm, Bridgham, had been facing two counts of damaging/destroying otter and water, vole shelters at Diss between October 1 2018 and December 31, 2018. He also faced a charge of damaging/destroying a breeding site of a protected European species, a water vole and otter, between the same dates. At a hearing at Norwich Magistrates Court on Monday, prosecutor Rebecca Vanstone said that the prosecution had decided to withdraw all the charges against Mr Rackham senior.

A man is to stand trial accused of aggravated vehicle taking after a stolen car ploughed into a Norwich pub. Police were called to The Mischief pub, on Fye Bridge Street, at 11.40pm on January 25 last year to reports that a Silver Seat Leon mounted the pavement and hit four pedestrians. The ambulance service was called to the scene, but no one was believed to have been seriously injured. Dean White, 28, of High Street, Lowestoft, appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court on Tuesday, February 2 charged with aggravated vehicle taking in January last year in relation to the incident.

Norwich electric scooter drink drive case adjourned

PICTURE: Jamie Honeywood - Credit: Archant A man who admitted drink driving on an electric scooter has had his case adjourned for a hearing to decide whether or not he will be disqualified. Tyrone Drane, 26, was spotted by police riding an electric scooter on Larkman Lane on June 13 last year. He was arrested and found to have 144 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 50. Drane, of Cadge Road, Norwich appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court on December 23 last year when he pleaded guilty to the charge of driving a vehicle above the legal alcohol limit.

Gemma Barnes, of Dover Street, Norwich, is accused of damaging two vehicles belonging to Hazel’s Butchers in Corbet Avenue, Norwich between October 9 and 10. She has also been charged with damaging Litcham Butcher’s shop, in Church Street, Litcham, between May 15 and 17, damaging Fiddy’s Butchers in Aylsham Road, Norwich on October 7  and also Hayley’s Big Baps on Aylsham Road, Norwich, between October 7 and 8.

More than 500 people attended the unlicensed music event in an area of woodland at Lynford near to the English Heritage site Grimes Graves. The event, which started on August 29, was closed down by police the following day. Stephan Aird, 30, has been charged with contravening a direction to leave the area at Thetford on August 30 last year. It is said he was participating in a gathering of more than 30 people at Grimes Graves in contravention of Health Protection Regulations.
