The Morrison government will promise at least $10 billion over four years for aged care in the May federal budget, including allowing more people to stay in their own homes for longer.

Probed this morning about whether the vaccine rollout and its impact will officially be in the budget papers this year, Finance Minister Simon Birmingham told Sky News it wouldn’t be.
“The assumptions are things that underpin the way Treasury does their modelling and so on,” he said.
“It’s not a case that we make predictions in the budget for those sorts of external factors.

Australian diplomats, including ambassador to the United States Arthur Sinodinos, have been snared in a sophisticated identity theft scam in which cyber attackers impersonated them on encrypted messaging services WhatsApp and Telegram in a bid to get sensitive information from their contacts.
The cyberattack happens to mirror the attacks on senior cabinet ministers, including Finance Minister Simon Birmingham and Health Minister Greg Hunt. The attackers impersonate the individuals on WhatsApp or Telegram by using their names and personal phone numbers and attaining access to their contact book on their phones.
A spokeswoman for the AFP said it was aware of the matter and was investigating.
