Finance Minister Simon Birmingham has announced the establishment of a review into the parliamentary workplace – to be led by Sex Discrimination Commissioner Kate Jenkins.
“The fact is the parliament of Australia should set the standard for the nation,” he said.
“The parliament should reflect best practice in the prevention of and response to any instances of bullying, sexual harassment or sexual assault.
“That’s why the prime minister agreed a couple of weeks ago to establish an independent review to look at systemic issues and to how the parliament can best set that example.”
