Police respond to hit and run, driver located and arrested
The hit and run driver was later located in Staples by the Staples Police Department and transported to the Crow Wing County Jail in Brainerd.

BAXTER A 38-year-old man was arrested Saturday, July 17, after being involved with a hit-and-run crash on Highway 210 at Memorywood Drive in Baxter.
The 38-year-old, who has no permanent address, was driving a Toyota Sienna and failed to yield, colliding with a Mazda 626, the Baxter Police Department reported. The man then left the scene without providing any information.
The driver of the Mazda, Darick V. Bartel, 27, Staples, was not injured, but his 29-year-old passenger, Heather L. Bartel of Brainerd was transported by North Memorial Health Ambulance to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd.
The teenagers likely suffered a wrist and ankle fracture, the sheriff s office reported.

CROSSLAKE Two teenage boys were injured Saturday, July 10, when the personal watercrafts they were operating collided on Rush Lake of the Whitefish Chain of Lakes.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office was called at 6:15 p.m. to Rush Lake where Caelan Hanson, 15, and Espen Ulland, 16, both of St. Paul, were each operating a personal watercraft when they collided.
Hanson suffered a likely wrist fracture and was transported by North Memorial Health Air Care to an unknown facility. Ulland suffered a likely ankle fracture, and was transported by North Memorial Health Ambulance to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd.

BAXTER Both drivers involved in a two-vehicle crash Thursday, March 4, at the intersection of Clearwater Road and Golf Course Drive in Baxter were injured.
The Baxter Police Department responded to the crash at 2:12 p.m. Police reported a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Christine S. Phillips, 25, Bemidji, failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection and struck a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Gretchen M. Ness, 45, Brainerd. Phillips and Ness were both transported by North Memorial Health Ambulance to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd.
