This year, the City of Wood Dale will be bringing the annual Memorial Day Parade to you.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, May 31, a shortened parade will travel through the streets of Wood Dale to commemorate the day.
The parade will start and end near the city hall on Wood Dale Road.
It will pass through various neighborhoods on the west side of Wood Dale Road before noon, then continue through streets east of Wood Dale Road after noon.
There won t be a Memorial Day Parade in Hamilton Township (Mercer County) this year (2021), according to Hamilton Township Mayor Jeff Martin.
I expected this news, since the holiday weekend is upon us, and there was no talk of it. This is the 2nd year in a row that one of the area s largest Memorial Day Parades won t be happening, due to lingering COVID-19 concerns.
The Mayor told me, The parade committee had to cancel this year again, but, we are moving forward with our 4th of July concert and fireworks this year.

Friends of the National World War II Memorial will host a special morning event at the Independence Avenue, Southwest landmark, during which WWII veterans will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Freedom Wall. The commemoration is free and open to the public to attend in-person (registration required) or you can watch it on Facebook Live here.
The Military Women’s Memorial
Monday, May 31 at 4 PM
At the gateway to Arlington Cemetery, the Military Women’s Memorial will hold its own ceremony. The event is free and open to all, and features speakers from each branch of the military who will acknowledge the women who have died in service to the country by placing rose petals along the memorial.
